Suntory is the oldest whisky making company in Japan. Its origins stretch back to a small shop, started in 1899 by Torii Shinjiro, which specialized in selling imported wines. The Yamazaki 12-Year-Old is one of the most iconic expressions from Suntory. Known for its smooth elegance and complexity, this whisky has become a benchmark for Japanese single malts and is a favorite among whisky enthusiasts worldwide. The whisky is made using a variety of cask types, including American oak, Japanese oak (Mizunara), and sherry casks. The use of a variety of cask types adds layers of complexity and depth to the flavor profile, while the 12 years of maturation provide a smooth, well-rounded character. The whisky is bottled at 43% ABV, which provides a perfect balance between intensity and drinkability.

The artisanal Chichibu distillery was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto and quickly took the whisky world by storm. To expand production and allow for further innovation, a second distillery (named Chichibu 2) was opened in October 2019. It has five times the capacity of the original distillery and is fitted with washbacks made of French oak and traditional direct gas-fired Forsyths copper pot stills, creating more complex flavours. Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu Distillery II is the very first official expression from Chichibu 2. This bourbon-cask driven single malt has a distinctive style with sweet and fruity aromas of vanilla, pineapple and pear, and a rich, full-bodied flavour of intense honeyed sweetness, apple pie, custard cream, cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long and smoky. Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu Distillery II was bottled in 2025 at a powerful 55.5%, Ichiro Akuto’s favourite proof level.

Nikka From the Barrel is a blend of multiple types of malt and grain that Nikka reserves. It was created to deliver full flavors and richness of whisky "from barrels" which only blenders can sniff and taste. As the whisky contains so many characteristic components at a higher alcohol of 51.4%, it is essential to let the liquid "marriage" in used casks for another few months for it to stabilize and harmonize. The concept of the unique short squared bottle is "a small block of whisky", which perfectly visualizes the rich and strong taste of the whisky inside.
