Not just another weekday wine - 2023 Leeuwin Estate ‘Art Series’ Riesling

Hailing from Western Australia’s legendary Margaret River, Leeuwin Estate is the benchmark powerhouse that helped put the region on the global map. They quietly craft tiny, exquisite batches of cellar-worthy wines at prices that feel like a clerical error—yet somehow, they continue to fly beneath the radar of even astute wine enthusiasts. Call it a collective blind spot for Australian treasures, but passing up these bottles—especially at a jaw-dropping price cut like this—is an absolute crime against great taste.

Full disclosure: I am utterly and unapologetically smitten with this wine. I first stumbled upon it roughly three decades ago, and it promptly shattered all my Riesling misconceptions by demonstrating just how exhilarating the variety can be. Calling it 'dry' hardly does it justice; it boasts zero abrasive tannins while maintaining a razor-sharp focus that keeps it miles away from sweet territory (it actually has less residual sugar than a standard Napa Cabernet). The aromatics leap out with jasmine and citrus blossom before pivoting into crisp green apple, zesty lime, and delicate herbs. Far from a simple fruit frenzy, it offers brilliant structural tension—pairing mouthwatering acidity with a cool, flinty mineral spine. It's the alcoholic, adult  equivalent of the greatest lemonade that you’ve ever tasted.
