Cheap & Cheerful - 2020 Mas D’Amile ‘Le Petitou’

The Terrasses du Larzac is a new appellation carved from an ancient land. Barely 20 miles from the Mediterranean Sea, nestled in the foothills of the Cevennes in south-central France, grapevines have been planted on the stoney terraces since Roman times. Ripened by the persistent sunshine yet cooled by its distance from the sea and proximity to the mountains, the grapes mature slowly, resulting in richly flavored and aromatic wines. 

‘Le Petitou’ is made of roughly 60% Grenache with Syrah and Carignan and is the newest wine from the estate, hence the name meaning ‘the little one’. Fresh and bright, with relatively low alcohol (13%), it's an easy drinking choice with dark cherry, black olive and herbal flavors. All the grapes were destemmed and the only 20% of the wine spends time in old barrel, so the tannins are well in hand, making this generous wine an apt selection as an aperitif or with lighter foods.
